Can anyone tell me the NAPA Gold oil filter number? Is there a list of oil
filters that will fit? Where should I install the filter?

filter

Mine is mounted behind the passenger side headlight and came with a wix 51049 but I prefer the Baldwin B279. The first kit I installed had a pin hole leak in the casting above the filter and the second one I had to re-tap the threads for the lines. So I would inspect it closely.

Why do you prefer the Baldwin over the Wix?

Oil Filter

Industrial filter- beefier construction, better media (IMO), doesn't say FRAM on it:D .

I get mine a a local dealer that services OTR trucks.

I agree, the Wix is a good filter but I have been told that the Baldwin has a better or beefier bypass, meaning the oil is less likely to ever go through the bypass. The Fram is supposed to be the worst when it comes to bypass. I do not have any tests or facts to back this up it is just what I have been told by people I trust.

I use the AC Delco PF35L. It's got some funky synthetic fiber media in it. Google it and check it out. It's designed for race cars and stuff.

Autozone typically stocks them, but they're a little pricey. Around $10 each.
