Turbo shaft play..

If I push on the wheel from the exhaust side, it moves in a little, but springs back as if it's spring loaded. It has no up-down/front-rear play and spins well, no smoke or oil. Just wondering if this is normal.

I'm removing the exhaust housing so I can port the WG hole. Any tricks to get the bolt on the bottom right next to the oil drain? Everything else is broken loose, but I can't get anything all the way around this one.

there should be NO in and out play in the shaft. put 1 finger on the comp wheel nut and one on the exh wheel and push abck and forth. if it moves any your thrust bearing is probably out or well on its way.
