Just driving along at 55mph when car started bucking and CEL comes on . It seemed like it was overfueling terribly. Tried to scan and got "vehicle not responding" message. I could press gas to burn extra fuel and it would run on all 6, so my hunch of too much fuel was right. The episode stopped after about 5 min, CEL went out, car ran just fine. And scanned -this time the scan worked and showed no da@#% code. Looked at gas gauge, and now was on empty. Anyone have an idea? Poltergeist?!!
Thanks

Check all grounds. Clear the ECM and then remove and reseat your prom. Also what are you using for scan? If directscan it will actually do this sometimes. Clean connectore and reinstall the DS cable.

If the chip wasn't being read correctly, and the CEL is on, there might not be an ALDL datastream. The chip has to be in use to get the datastream.

Am using Auto X-Ray xp-240. (no direct scan, unfortunately). It was plugged in as usual but not even turned on when event happened. The chip has been in for about 800 miles and this is first hint of problem. What is so frustrating is that a code is never produced or stored, that always makes me think ecm. Ill try doing what yall posted-thanks.

As usual-Its drive it for a day, work on it for a day, and $$$.
