Hi folks,

I recently switched to the TA tall valve covers and at their recommendation ran the felpro cork gaskets with them.

Problem: Leaking from rear of valve covers on both sides. Bolts torqued to recommended specs so overtorquing should not have been the cause.

So, who has had good luck with what? Had one recommendation for some fancy Felpro rubber gaskets, but would like any feedback from you folks!

Thanks,
Scott

Did you glue them to the cover? I found the biggest problem is that they slip.
Get some spray glue and glue the gasket to the cover. it will secure it in place so they don't slip when installed.

The Felpro 1600 cork gasket is thicker than a regular one and seals better.

Another item to check is make SURE the bolts are not bottoming out in the head so the gasket is not compressed properly.

leaks

I have had NO leak trouble when using the Felpro neoprene valve cover gaskets. Unfortunately,I have other problems, either rear seal or oil pan gasket leaks. Murphy's law, right?

Try the Fel-Pro Perma Dry Plus valve cover gasket # VS-50156T . a little pricey ($22-$30) .but they work great .

Thanks-- those were the ones a local Buick guy recommended. Between all of the good suggestions here I should have a leak free setup.

I have a set of the valve covers and tried the flepro blue with steel gaskets and the black felpro gaskets and another set(don't remeber) I used silicon to the gasket to the valve cover and they still leaked. What a pain it was.Engine is out and new Champion heads are going in with other internal stuff.I hope it ends with the leaks .

I have a set of perma drys-- is there any hope of removing and replacing these TA valve covers with the motor in the car (AC is still there, but I removed the thin shielding for clearance)?

Tips?

-Scott
