I have a stock block and cam GN and would like to change valve springs as they are 20 years old.I am looking at the comp 980 or 981.Any recomendations would be appreciated thanx

I used the cc980's without the spring cups and they made a world if difference compared to my 100k stockers. Get the springs, a spring tool, new valve seals, new valve locks, valve cover gaskets, and a air hose fitting for the spark plug holes to keep the valves up and you are set. I went ahead and upgraded to solid rocker shafts also for cheap insurance. It will take just a couple of hours if you have everything you need.

Diddo the other post cept I went with 979's and have had zero float.
Red Armstrong referred me to them 5 years ago when I did them and they have benn through many a poundin since..LOL

FWIW ...Advanced auto parts has Speed Pro keepers for direct replacement. They where like .70 cent ea back then

Can you tell me what 979 s are because I cannot find them in the catalog thanx for the input

The 979's are also comp cams. They are a few pounds lighter than the 980's so you should use the cups with them. The 980's have dampeners inside them, not sure if the 979's have dampers or not.

Ohh yeah I reused the cups with the CC 979's and only six outta the 12 have the inner springs so I pulled them out and ran all with out inners.
