I have an 85. Anyway, I looked at the location chart at gnttype.org, but it's less than specific. It would appear to be on the driver's side of the steering column, but I can't tell exactly where, and peeking under there, I don't see it.

Do I need to pull much apart or can I access it from the bottom?

I have a Chiltons, but it makes NO mention of it...

thanks

Behind the gauge cluster. IIRC, not to bad to get to. Someone with a GN could help you better...

I have an 86, but i just did mine.

The only thing atached to the cluster is a cable. The green box or buffer as its called is better grabbed from where the radio is, just take it out.

So I can pull the radio and get to the sensor itself, do I need to pull the cluster to get to the plug on that end?

The sensor is behind the gauge cluster. Beside the speedomater cable. It is held in with a little screw. The reader is located behind the radio/heater controls. They are conected with a ribbon of three wires.

Yes, that explanation makes the most sense.

I would only like to add that this piece comes out as one. The sensor and reader (green box) are all one piece. So you have to remove the cluster to unscrew the sensor but get behind the radio to pul it out. The green box will not fit through the little holes behind the cluster.
