Started installing my Autometer temp guage(4331). Ran probe/fitting through trans tunnel under console. So far so good. Removed idiot light sending unit. Threaded fitting from probe on guage into hole and tightened. Probe is still loose...the reason is, the probe has to rest on a taper in the hole and the supplied adapter that came with the guage is too big. Neither will work. It is 1/2npt male to 3/8npt female. What you need is a 3/8npt male to 3/8npt female that has a tapered ridge on the inside of the female side of fitting. Go to NAPA and get part number 7011799. It is a VDO adapter just for this type of application. See the link.http://www.napaonline.com/MasterPages/NOLMaster.aspx?PageId=470&LineCode=BK&PartNumber=7011799&Description=Gauge+Hardware I posted this to hopefully save someone some hassle.
