I just swapped in a new t-stat and the water temp light is on now! I didn't touch anything else and I made sure that there's plenty of fluid in the rad... WTF? Did I diconnect something that I didn't see?

I don't recall it being connected prior to the swap... I'll look again

BTW, anyone know what the size of the O-ring is on the Billet T-stat housing? I think mine is worn and leaking...

""water outlet "O" ring 1-427"" Cut and pasted from teh gnttype part number list. Not sure if they can corss that number or not at Oreillys, etc.

EDIT: Found it on Oreillys site, doesn't say what size though:

oh, and the above mentioned wire was my problem with the light coming on as well.

I have "billet style" t-stat housing. Not exactly sure that the OE style O-ring would work. Also, no O'reillys here in SoCal (that I've ever heard of at least..)

Was wondering if I could find a replacement at a local Lowes, Home Depot, Ace type store... (just need a size, thinkness?)

Gasket was torn and a piece was missing??? And the temp switch had the little spade end broken off and sitting inside the clip that attaches to it... ;)

Anybody have the pat number for that peice? Thinking about which way to go with this car... gauges or scanmaster for full duty...

temp warning light

Hi,
This circuit is pretty basic. Are you sure you don't have an overheat situation? I think the switch is set to close above 250 degrees F. It's quite possible that you have a low coolant level , maybe air in the system, after replacing the thermostat. If that is not the case, I hate to suggest it, but you did install the stat with guts inward toward the intake, right. I don't even know if it's possible to mess that one up, but I had to ask.
As far as the light circuit is concerned, the hot light goes on with a ground through the switch, only other time it should light is during bulb test, between run and start with the key.Anything else, we're talking short to ground, in the engine harness wiring, hopefully.
I guess that's it. Since apparently you had no light until the tstat change, I really think you have a hot engine. If you are in doubt, change the coolant temp switch. Be precise when you ask for the part, don't get the coolant temp sensor or high speed fan switch! Good luck!

Um, did you read his last post? He found the issue, broken prong on the sender.

I got the gasket I needed over at the local Autozone. They only had 1 in stock

It's Felpro--- Price .99

Here's the part number: 35608
Underneath that number it says future no. 10-1251.

In case anyone runs into the same issues...
