i have just bought a we-4 car and was wondering if it is anymore valuable then a regular gn or t type. i have looked up what i could and i have seen a few facts on the car but not alot. here is what i know, #1 there were 26,555 grand nationals made in 1987, and only 1547 we-4 EVER produced. #2 i also know that they are the only car buick called the TURBO"T". i know there were t types and the "T", but only the we-4 was the turbo "T". what else is there to know about these cars? are they more valuable.

I dont think that they are they are about the same as a limited T and a T they way things look is unless it is a GNX then the production numbers dont matter. But the value is all on what somebody is willing to pay for the car.

True, but in 20 more years, who knows??? ;)

so what yall are saying is i got a car that is more rare and it still isnt worth more. the other things on a we4 is that they have aluminum backing plates on the rear brakes and they also have aluminum bumper brackets, not sure what else is aluminum, but i know that they are somewhat lighter than the gn. the car i have is immaculate inside and out prolly one of the nicest gn style cars i have EVER seen. underneath of the car is the same way. and like you said corsair if they arent worth more now, what about 20 years from now! why wouldnt a car that there were produced than most all other buick cars be worth more money? not that i want to sale the car but just speaking theoreticlly.(or however u spell it)

That says it all. GN's are what has brought these cars to their present day status. All turbo buicks are bad a**, and as such have enjoyed a remarkable desire in the collector car market. As you mentioned--conditon plays a huge role in the vehicles price, so keep up/improve the cars present condition. As for being lighter than a GN, who knows. My car has aluminum bumper bracing, and brake drums. All that was needed in '85 ( when I ordered my '86 GN ) to get aluminum drums, was to order an open differential. Brian

GNXs will bring more than a GN ... GN will bring more than a WE4 .. of course prices will vary upon condition and how bad someone wants the car  :p

One reason I like we-4's is that they came standard optioned aluminum bumper supports & drums. Normally stripped down to save weight.
I have a hard top here that is heavilly optioned, that is rare for a we-4.
If you like a factory light weight race car & like having a low production car don't worry about the value being less then a GN.
I like the fact that most people don't even know what they are. I had a customer stop up last week.He had a we-4 & didn't even know it. He really wanted a GN. When I explained to him what the car was he got over it NOT being a GN.
Don't get me started on wh-1's LOL

this car is i believe as optioned as you can get one, power windows, power locks, cruise control, power steering, power antenna, i mean what else could you ask for. lol:biggrin:

moon roof or t roofs..power seat  Melissa had one for years ... NO ONE had any idea what it was ... after getting tired of the stupid questions she told them it was a GN with the optional interior  :p

Digital dash, security, CS2, Twilight sentinel,Remote mirror & power seat. Power seat I think was dealer installed.Didn't look factory.

I read somemwhere that the WE-4 was 200 pounds lighter than the GN....Didn't I? Or, was it the LTD TR....?

It might be 200 pounds lighter than an 87 GN but the 86 GN also has the aluminum supports so in all reality the only difference is the steel wheels and rear spoiler when compared to the WE4. Aluminum drums only came on non-posi alloy wheel cars. I'd rather have posi. IIRC there are something like 33 different options for the turbo Regals. Some of it was standard content in 1987 and shouldn't be considered.

I've said it million times. A good driver in a heavy car can easily make up for the weight handicap with a good holeshot, assuming the set up is equal. I.e. stock to stock. Whats 200 pounds equal to? About .20 or is it .02?

BTW some figures in the opening post are incorrect. 20,193 GNs built in 87 and they didn't have aluminum backing plates.

WE4 owner here....

I love when people ask...
1. "No spoiler?"

and

2. "Why is your interior all grey?"

It's a coversation piece with anyone who doesn't know these cars! As far as value...time will tell:cool:

WE-4 is a posi with aluminum drums. Not all we-4's were posi but aluminum drums were part of the we-4 option.

Actually aluminum drums are easy to add to any WE4 car from those pesky salvage guys. ;)

My WE4 I bought new with posi. and iron drums came with it.

That's okay they're stronger even half rusted off.

My WE4 was pretty loaded as well, they came however you ordered one, or when built by GM for the dealer lots the options varied just like in GN's, plenty of no and low option GN's out there.

My WE4 weighs about 200 pounds more than my GN, must be the dynamat and 3 subwoofers and all the stuff I added to it. :p

I don't think they will ever be worth more than any other TR simply because the option package isn't substantially different, and it's all trim stuff, no motor or heads or cam variances that made old low production muscle cars rare and valued.

Only slightly less conspicuous than a GN most likely due to the badges and lack of spoiler since they're the same color and all.

well.......

I also have a WE4, ( the smooth look) people just assume its a GN, I have GN also, so its fun to watch folks compare them, I usually leave a flyer inside the WE4 telling what it is, value?? I think its similar to a GN, but what do I know!

I think it makes the badest daily driver. Everyone's first reaction is that its a gn, but most second guess after a second of looking at it. Although I dont have any badges, the huge tires and extended front mount innercooler are a easy giveaway.
