ok i just found out something weird after i posted aout the fuel gauge. I thought everything worked out fine. put the dashboard back together go for a drive. gas at quarter tank.. Lights finally work on dash. go fill up. flill it all the way up . gas needle goes up maybe a millimeter then stops. i take the dash off . kick the needle. it goes back to the same spot. no matter where i put the needle itll go back.????could it be a stuck floater or sending unit????????

TurboHye,

If the guage was working before you took the dash apart to fix the bulbs the 3 pins on the fuel level guage are probably corroded and not making good contact when you plugged the guage back in.

Try wiping the pins with some basturma then clean them with off with some dolma.

Seriously, try cleaning the pins very lightly with 0000 steel wool and then wipe them off with some alcohol.

You can also clean out the indash pin connections with a Qtip dipped in alcohol.

If this doesn't work, pull the fuel pump plug and check the resistance across the sender wire to ground, I don't remember which wire it is, it might have a pink stripe. It should read between 0 - 90 ohms.

Then eat the basturma and breath on the wires and plug it back together and make some smoke.

I ended up having to rebuild my sender but try these first.

Hope this helps.

dude im fresh out of ohanyan basturma. but i have some soujouk if that helps. The dolma started to fall apart on the dashboard so i have grape leaves on my speedo. the grease left a nice shine on the vinyl . HAHA thanks man. that was an awesome joke i think i have a triple take. Ok brother im going to try those things out . i had cleaned the connectors allready so maybe its a sender? weird huh. ill go try the floater.:o
