I have just the smallest amount of grease/oil leaking out of the drivers side axle tube where it connects to the diff.

I was told that the tubes eventually need to be welded to the diff to keep them from twisting....which is what is causing my leak.....

Any thoughts or comments? Will a bead of JB Weld do the trick :-)

Unless you have the proper jig to set the rear end up in when welding the tubes (or know some one who does), I wouldn't do it.
If you weld thenm with out the jig, there is a 99% chance you will weld them in crooked and bering failure will soon follow

If the seepage bugs you that much, clean it REALLY good and use some black RTV. It could help

as long as the tubes havent been removed you will not have anything to worry about I have welded about 15 and none have moved around at all .I have the jig for the rearend and have checked them before and after and they havent moved at all so I wouldnt worry.

I was told from the factory they are only welded in a few spots on each side and that eventually these tack welds break and the axles twist. That is what causes the leaks.

At what point is it a good idea to have them welded?

Would spreading JB Weld around the seam be as good as really welding? I doubt it but maybe some have had goood luck with this method.
