Well i jumped in my GN yesterday and decided I would try to do some tuning. I specifically wanted to check my blm's and see where they were because of a post I read on here a few weeks ago. I got the basics of what blms are and where it should be (128) +/- 10. So i get in my car and let it come up to temp and my blms read 1. Its not a typo it read "1". The car has always smoked real bad under part or WOT acceleration. The never smoked that bad when I first got it a year or so ago. I changed the PCV valve and i thought that fixed 70% of the problem, but i guess that wasnt the case because it smokes jus as much as it used too now. none the less seeing this I drove the car around hoping the numbers would change but it didnt, stayed at 1. i drove the car about an hour. Car drove ok seemed alright besides those big clouds of greyish black smoke under acceleration. When i got back from my lil cruise the bls moved up but only to 10 now? Ive been trying to crack this problem for a while now and when it seems like I have a fix it seems like it was only a band aide. The car has new valve springs and new rear seal. The car was fine when i first bought it. So my question to you guys is what can i check or what can I do to gt the blms where they should be in that 128 range. Could I have a bad ECM. I have a maxx effort chip and thumbwheel in my car, could it be tuned out with that? What can i do to make this go away. hopefully its a quick inexpensive fix? Please guys any comments on what it could be or what i can do to solve this problem would be of great help. Sorry for the long post and yes i did do a search but also wanted to get your guys opinion and thoughts.
 Will it hurt my car if im driving tit like that?

The Maxeffort does not use BLM's since its open loop. You won't see the "typical" BLM values displayed, they are used to display the various settings.

Is your ME made for the injectors you're running?

Eric

First of all make sure the screens are out of the maf.

What injectors?
009's about 44-46psi FP line off and 50's about 40.

Every airmeter seems a little differant these days.
There is an adjustment in pos E that will comp for this scenario.
Lower this number 16 at a time till the problem clears up.
Put the tw on pos E, air on, key on, and call up BL on your scanmaster and watch the numbers decline when you do your programming thing.

Also, if the problem is at half throttle or so, you can remove fuel from your 0-4000 fuel in pos 3.

For not having a CLUE on how to operate the max-e you have managed to keep that car running and I am impressed !!

That's a recipe for disaster LOL

I am going to appoint you the poster child for maxeffort !

:) :)

Thanks Steve!

Solved the problem with my Car and the big clouds of black smoke. I had replaced a bad MAF with one of those Hour glass shaped MAF and unknown to me that these things are supposed to suck! I had been driving the car with it for a while. I talked with Steve Y and he hooked me up and told me they were junk and to replace it with the stock one. Did that and now the car doesnt leave big clouds of smoke. So all in all it was a bad MAF causing my problems, not a bad chip or anything. (Right Steve)lol. So to any experiencing this same problem check your MAF. Oh yeah a bump for Steve Y. His customer service is 2nd to none. You buy his product and have a question or problem, he will help you out til the end!

Matter of fact I remember when he helped me sort some things out when he was on vacation! How many of your vendors would say im not gettin off the phone til we sort the problem out. Thats cusomter Service! Needless to say we did sort out the problem and i enjoyed my weekend driving my car.
So to Steve Y! :D Thanks Man!
