I checked out the atr website but it didn't work and I'm wondering what chip is in my car. I have the invoice from the previous owner it is a pit bull chip 36# injectors item number HP137A1. What all does this chip do if anyone knows? Thanks!

I have an old 2003 catalog.... the HP137R3 (not A1) is a pit bull chip..... the strip chip is a HP138A ...... I would assume (same as a wild ass guess) that your HP137A1 is a pit bull... and not the strip chip..... but not sure if the A1.... is just a version/year identifier....

If you are contemplating a new chip..... look no further than Eric Marshall at TurboTweak..... you won't find anybody that has anything but positive things to say about his chips. His chips are very reasonable too.

thanks for the info. i was wondering also what the difference would be between a strip chip and a street/stock chip? As in what would the engine be doing differently. I have a high idle and am wondering if the chip may have something to do with it.

Do you have a scan tool? That makes diagnosing these cars muuuuch easier. High idle... could be a symptom of a vacuum leak. These cars are aproaching 20 years old..... the vacuum lines are marginal at best unless they have been replaced. It is a good place to start looking for high idle problems..... but it really is a shot in the dark w/o a scantool.

Where are you located...... maybe we can find a board member close by with a scan tool
