what does this (underhood) relay control

Its the closest to the firewall on the drivers side above the wheel well.

one of the 2 wire harnesses on it was dissconnected so i pulled it off to clean the contacts, but when i had it in my hand i could hear loose parts rattleing in it. so i opened it up and there was tons of rust bouncing around inside it.

is it a fan relay or something? the car runs fine i'd just like to know what ive been messing up running the car w/o it plugged in

Coolant Fan Delay Relay... ill have to do a little research

Exact same "sounds" from my relay. Went out and bought new relays....new problem (note my thread on rc fans running).

I hate electrical crap!!!

Best place for that relay is in your sock drawer.

Take both connectors off it to be sure there's no current drain to your battery.

Won't hurt anything you can tape them disconnected up if you want to.
