What is the best rear end gear lube to use with the stock posi-traction? I presently have KB gear lube but I don't feel like spending the money to buy his stuff. What else is good?

Ive been using the gm stuff and two bottles of gm posi additives and never had a problem. usually change every 20k and have yet to see excessive metal buildup. id go witht he gm stuff if i were you, just remember to use two bottle of additives

I changed mine to Amsoil synethic fluid and developed a pinion seal leak:( Then I changed it to Lucas HD diff fluid and now it stopped and no chatter without GM additive.. :)

I like the idea of using the GM stuff but what is the additive called?
Thanks 87gninpa

The additive i got at gm, just ask for it over the counter in the parts area. they gave me 3 qts of gear oil and two bottles of additive(all gm stuff) and it works great

i think they actually call it "limited slip diff fluid" or something like that. same stuff

Stay away from the synthetics...Eaton(is what most all OEM posi units where) actually gives instructions not to use the syn oil(just installed a brand new one in my 86).

Here is what I have had the best of luck with: Lucas oil stailizer, limited slip additive and valvoline75w90.
