I bought this car roughly a year ago and I'm still trying to figure out what all has already been done to it. Its an 87 and I have found a 307 fuel pump w/ hot wire, 009 injectors, stock turbo, I'm thinking it might have a cam since it idles kinda loopey and mildly rough and the Vacuum is 12 inches at idle, But I'm really wanting to know what this chip is so that maybe it might tell me if it does have a cam in it.

The chip had a life vest orange sticker on it that had printed in the center of it "R93" which tells me its a pump gas chip. On each corner of it is F 9 6 0 in pen like this--->

--------------
F 9

R93

6 0
--------------

On the plactic retainer around the chip has "RN" embossed on it.

Here is what I need to know, Who makes the chip, What kinda chip is it, Can I tell if this chip supports an after market cam or not and if it does which one. Is the chip any good, or should I replace it, If I need to replace it what would be a good compatable chip and do I need to know in fact if I have a cam in it to get a correct chip so on and so forth. Thanks you for the help

My diagram is hosed up

Here is what it should look like

------------
F............9
...............
.....R93.....
...............
6............0
------------
*Note ignore the "." in the diagram they are not actually on the chip they are there to maintain the appearance of the diagram....

Sounds like a Red Armstrong (Quad Air) chip to me.

93 = 93 octane (i.e. street chip).

Give them a call to see if it's their latest and greatest for 009's.

RN, I assume, is the maufacturer of the chip carrier, nothing more.

I wouldn't assume you have a cam. Why would a relatively stock car have a cam? These are not SBC's were a cam change is business as usual. The stock TR cam is good into the 10's. Maybe the car just idles poorly and needs some tuning attention?

Good luck!

Contacts

Do you have a Link or phone number for Red Armstrong, I'm having a heck of a time finding it...

LOL, Well I'm not in a much better place Muncie, IN Lots of GN's around me though, makes for good eye candy

Thanks Strikeeagle,

You were right on the money about the chip, called Red Armstrong and he confirmed that was it. By the way an excellent guy. He gave me all sorts of pointers on how to tune my car...Thanks again.
