I replaced my PCV Valve today an this was inline above it. I figure is is some type of valve like ATR used to see that prevents boost from entering the crankcase. I took it out but did not put it back in!! From what I can tell shouldn't just a PCV alone keep boost from entering the crankcase. I blew thru the PCV from the small side of it an cannot blow thru it. This valve I took off I cannot blow thru either side. It just has a plunger on one side an I took a pen an pushed o nthe other side an the plunger moves out onthe other side an sucks itself back in! Is this normal?

You are correct, the valve was used to stop boost pressure from leaking into the crankcase. They are spring loaded to keep them closed until sufficient vacuum opens them up. They really aren't necessary if the PCV valve is working properly.

Ok well I just replaced the PCV with a new one an witht he old one you could not blow thru it toward the crank so I guess it was good. As a side not the grometts that the PCV goes in can be had @ Advance Autoparts. It is #56.. I went to the dealership an they wanted $9.00 a piece for the grommet."what a rip"//.. I got the PCV for just $4.00 it was AC Delco/ #CV893

I need to get rid of mine, actually. It rattles like a ball in a paint can while the car is idling. Sounds terrible. I wonder if it's broken inside?
