The standard engine was the 350-horse 455, which also delivered a whopping 510 ft-lbs of torque. The Stage-1 455 (rated at a conservative 360 hp/510 ft-lb torque) was the optional engine, and in fact was installed in the majority of GSX's (400 of 678). A Hurst shifted Muncie close-ratio 4-speed manual transmission was standard equipment, with the 3-speed automatic TH-400 available at extra cost.
