I'm gonna run stock rockers with my GN1's what size push rods do I need.
And I thought push rods came standard with the heads?

GN1's do not come with pushrods. I use 8.850 inch pushrods. I got mine from Ramchargers. However, I did purchase a Manley pushrod length checker from Summit to confirm the length because I don't have a stock block. 8.85 was right for my engine.

If you use stock rockers, make sure the pushrods do not touch the the heads. Turn the motor over a few times to make sure.

Thanks for the replies guys but what lenght for stock rocker set-up 8.50"?

All motors are different. You need to check for the proper length and lifter preload.

My goodness how do ya check for the length after the preload thing? . I thougt that there was a set length for stock rocker shafts vs roller setup. Silly me now its getting difficult:( .

You are making it difficult:) Buy one of Comp Cams adjustable pushrod length checkers from Summit. Install it in place on the lifter and bolt the shaft down (make sure the pushrod is screwed in before doing this) to torque spec. Screw the pushrod out until it touches the rocker arm (forgot to mention you need to be on the backside of the cam lobe you are testing:) ). This will be zero lash. I then add .035" for preload so if you have 8.850"+ .035" so you need 8.885" pushrods. Measure them all and they should come out the same if things are correct. If not average all your readings and shoot for .030"-.040" added to the overall average. -yet!:D

Thanks Jesse I tried calling you a couple times can't reach you man. Back side of lobe huh:confused: . Guess I'll try and call you again. :D Thanks for the replies guys. You to Jesse :p

Probably 4 out of 5 engines I have built with your setup needed 8.850 pushrods. If that is what you end up needing, email me. I have over 100 moly 8.850's that I can't use (I only do roller cam motors now). I'll sell you 12 for half of what I paid, just to get rid of them.

Nick,

What do you do if they touch the head?
