.... what are the necessary steps

when removing the whole "sandwich" adapter, you are unable to build pressure. In order to have oil pressure I ran a house from one port to the other.... is there a check valve that needs to switch over or what??? What are you guys doing that eliminated the oil "heater"

did an f-body rad conversion and all i did was remove the nut holding the oil cooler adapter on and then removed the adapter and then put the filter back

no problems with the pressure ,without the cooler its the same setup as the NA and hotairs

I don't quite understand the question. If you want to remove the oil cooler, you just remove the adapter nut and the adapter and screw the oil filter directly onto the oil pump.

when i did my F-body conversion last summer - i did exactly what you guys said .......and ZERO pressure. i than ran a line from one port on the sandwich adapter to the other and reinstalled .....and voila.... back to normal... so either there is some funky valve [maybe its the bypass valve] on the adapter that presurized the system - i really dont know - like you guys said i figured i could take the WHOLE adapter off and run it like a N/A... but that didnt work. anyboy ever have the same problem before.

all i can figure is you didnt pre fill the filter before installing or wait for it to build pressure as you would do for a normal filter service , no reason i can think of for why you had to reinstall the adapter to get pressure .

I just had the conversion done on tuesday and I have no problems building oil pressure at all.

yeah... maybe it was Murphys Law b/c i was rushing to try to make the Indy show.... when it gets warmer i will try again to just remove the sandwich adapter and put the Biggie adapter on and then the filter...jus like before....& i always pre-fill oil in filter but i was working on NO sleep trying to get to indy so who knows... all i wanna do is take that goofy hose ring i rigged up off:eek: :D Thanx... if anybody has any other ideas let me know

welll there is your problem
ditch the adapter!
pretty sure you can't use the biggie adapter without the cooler adapter as it will put the filter too far out from the sealing surface , i just run the std filter replacement , pf52

The "biggie oil filter adaptor" deal will NOT work if you remove the oil cooler adaptor. I would suggest a spin-on hose adaptor from Precision or Duttweiler, and run a dual remote filter set-up, or if you are making big power, then a Fram HP-6 filter. I have not tried to find a larger spin-on filter (WITH anti-drain back) I usually just use a remote filter set up. I mount the filters on the outboard side of the frame rail and then run the hoses (sleeved for anti-chafe) over the frame rail. This keeps the filters below the pump level and they won't go dry sitting there over night.
Or, keep it simple and use a PF-52 and just screw it onto the pump cover. No Drama. I have run my car for YEARS (actually decades, now!;) ) with no oil cooler. If you ever loose an engine bearing, you MUST replace the oil cooler in the radiator, because it is next to impossible to clean out all the bearing schrapnel from the cooler. So instead, I use synthetic oil and no cooler. Works just fine.

On my old grey car, I completely removed the factory oil cooler line adapter and just screwed on the PTE oil filtration adapter. Ran it that way for 8 years without a problem and raced the stew out of the car this way. This was from when the car was running low 11's, till the day I sold it running 10.00s - 9.90s. On my new car, I completely removed the oil cooler adapter and just screwed the PF52 filter straight to it. No problems and plenty of oil pressure. Just make sure when you remove the oil cooler adapter, that you make sure the o-ring that goes between the adapter and the oil pump housing is not left on the oil pump housing.
