When someone says they gained lets say 2PSI from an intercooler upgrade.

Would this mean a gain in 2PSI without additional KR?

So if I'm at 18PSI and with the int upgrade it goes to 20PSI , would it be efficent enough not to KR because of the bigger int?

Basically should I lower my psi before I go WOT and blow a head gasket?

It's a question of knock. For any combination of build-up and operating conditions, what is the maximum boost can you run with no knock? That's the answer.

When somebody writes their boost increased 2 PSI after they installed such-and-such an intercooler, they are merely observing that the additional flow resulting from the improvement resulted in increased pressure loss between the turbo compressor and intake. They aren't relating the improvement to more or less knock - and some guys, I suppose, haven't a clue in this regard.

I start to get knock at around 18-19PSI. I will lower it to 16 and go up from there.

thanks!

When I swapped in a CAS V4 I gained almost 4 psi. I had to turn the boost down obviously and I wound up a little higher than before because of the improved performance.
