All of the turbo Buick on line speciality houses carry it. GBodyParts.com, Kirbans performance, John's Performance, to name but a few. none of the local auto parts houses carry it.

theyre EVERYwhere. i cant imagine a store not carrying such a simple part. thats really odd. if that store didnt have such a popular and simple part, id never ever visit them again. cuz i KNOW if they didnt have that little rudimentary part, they DEFINITELY wouldnt have anything else a turbo buick needed lol.

Not to be arguementative, but most of the common auto retail stores do not carry much for our turbo cars, and of the ones that do, most resell rebuilt electrionics that generally are of questionable integrity, such as rebuilt MAF's & so forth. Buying from a TB.com sponsoring vendor helps keep the site/board going, and helps the keep the individual vendor in business too. Even when buying from a non sponsoring but a turbo Buick orientated vendor helps keep the turbo Buick community going. I am not going to pay shipping on oil by ordering it on line, but on the other hand I am not going to buy a rebuilt MAF from AZ, either. HTH

Well said Mr. Wells!

I found out the hardway not all parts are created equal. You can count on the fact that if it comes from one of our vendors you are getting a good quality product!

Since the 160 thermostat was never used in a turbo Buick from the factory, there's not much reason for AZ or PepBoys to carry them. But you can get a 160 for a chevy, and trim it to fit the thermostat housing on the Buick, and it will work just fine. Or you can get a chip for a 180, and that makes finding thermostats easier, and it will work just fine, too.

I'll try a few more stores just in case. As far as buying from vendors I definitely agree that it helps us ALL, even if we do pay a few bucks more. I look at it this way, if it wasn't for them a lot of our cars, mine especially, would end up getting parted out or junked. Even the guys at the local dealership suggested I start finding my parts through vendors. I went there for a plenum gasket which they had but had to order, I was going to get a tb gasket and they're discontinued, weird. The local store had tb gaskets but couldn't get plenum gaskets, go figure. I guess if I'm gonna get a tstat from a vendor just as well get my pcv valve too.
