Ok so a few weeks ago on my GN that has the security feature I noticed when I turned the car off my security light came on and stayed on. I had never run into this problem before. I tried opening and closing the doors, locking and unlocking them inside and outside the car, and even undid the battery to see if it would reset something and still nothing. I finally just took the bulb out. Anyways jump to now and my battery is dead. I jump it and the car will run but as soon as I turn the car oof its dead again. So I get a new battery and decide to see if that fixed my security light problem, so I put the bulb bak in and it wont come on now no matter what I do, so Im guessing my module is bad. Where is it located, and can I remove it and replaceit my self or would the dealer have to do it? Thanks

Dusty

The module is up under the dash. If you look up in the lower left corner right above the park brake release handle you will see a plastic box about 2X3" in size. Its a PITA to get to. It was also the same module used on just about every GM car in the 80's so they are easy to find in the boneyards. I usually pull them out of 85-88 Devilles as those are the easiest to get to. Look for option code UA6 on the SPID labels in the trunk or spare tire cover. Most of the time the factory anti theft labels are still on the window glass which is easier than looking for codes. But double check to be on the safe side.

simple answer yes. mine just went out i unplugged it, next time i go junk yard exploring i will check for one for myself but no more worries or i might just put a kill switch in.
