Yes I would like to know which head gaskets are the best stock replacements I have always used OEM head gaskets because I heard they where the best. But it seems like they are getting harder and harder to find. But what I would like to know is how does the Felpro or something like that compare.

Thanks In Advance:rolleyes:

From what ive read and know what's on my car. The Fel-Pro 9441's are the correct ones to get.

Now ive never replaced a HG or anything, but that is the number for HG from them.

Actually in comparison will the felpro hold up as good as the OEM.

Thanks again :wink:

The 9441's will hold up fine. Proper prep for the mating surfaces and a very through thread cleaning of the headbolt holes cannot be overstressed..it will make ALL the difference in the world especially under higher than stock boost levels. HTH

using both....

the 9441's on the 3.8 and the 1000's for the 4.1:biggrin:

Cometic HG's

Been running the first production set of Cometic MLS viton coated HG's for
2-3 years with iron heads prepped for Cometics. They are great, but will not blow out, so the lower end of motor must be strong (steel caps Etc) at high boost.

i have not had the best of luck w/ the 9441's, but i know plenty of people who use them. i am just finishing the same task and thought i would try the victor reinz gasgets, heard good things about them and they look more stout than the 9441's. i have a set of fel-pro 066's that look like they would hold up and also they have a small bead of silicone around some of the passages. again, i chose the v.r.'s. anyone use the 066 fel-pro?

SCE TITAN Head gaskets

I run a new gasket from SCE that has the o-ring built into the gasket rather than having to o-ring the block or heads. I have run 23 lbs of boost with 23 degrees of timing with no problems.

I've had the 9441's to 26 psi and 25 degrees of timing without any problem. That was with TTY headbolts and when I took the heads off (wiped cam) the headgaskets looked perfect. HTH james

Sorry to hijack..... what type of prep? Which part number cometics? Have you had any problems with them seeping water or oil?

i've blown a pair of 9441's, now run stock gm head gaskets. But I think any headgasket will blow under certain circumstances. It is all about the prep as stated above. Most people forget to re-torque them after a few heat cycles, and go balls out right out of the garage instead of proper break in. But i'd rather have a head gasket blow before my bottom end. There has to be a fuse somewhere, and the head gaskets are the chosen ones's:D

Call Full throttle at 586-294-4404, they have the complete kit made by Victor, it has everything except the valley pan for under $100. The heads gaskets are just like the stock style graphite looking. I have used Felpro to cosmetics but these are the best bang for the buck, I believe the kit even has the turbo oil drain gasket. I have used about 10 kits on different motors no problems at all. I think it also comes with a rubber oil pan gasket but I prefer a cork one.
