at about 75mph and faster my 87 t-type whines real loud. it will even whine going down hill in N so i know it is somthing in the drivetrain. perhaps u-joint cross bearings? anyone familiar with this issue before i go buy new ones?

Know what you mean.
Our GN does that too, but I thought it was just the turbo talking.
Do you think it is a problem?
Do you feel some vibration or is it really ear piercing?

U-joints have a distinctive sound. They start squeaking the moment you begin moving, the squeaking alternates from high pitch to low pitch as the driveshaft rotates, and get's faster but yet quieter the faster you go.

If your car makes this noise in neutral it could be in the rolling stock. Bearings will roar, not squeak. Probably in the brakes. They may just need to be bled to get rid of some air.

Rear End

when was the last time you serviced your rear end? have you checked the oil level? Posi/s will wind when they become low on oil or go bad

Wind huh? I knew they smelled bad when you took the cover off...LOL
Guessing you meant whine...I didn't know that.

I guess I learned something today! :)

Oh Yeah

whine, yup. I pulled a posi rear out of the junk yard a long time ago, whined like a new born, changed it out, problem solved. good luck guys
