Ok guys, here's a poll I've been thinking about for a while. Keep in mind, this is more for fun than anything. :p I'm probably about to buy new tires for my GN. I don't have the funds for aftermarket rims right now so I'm going to keep the stock 15 wheels a little longer.

Personally, I like the look of white letter tires on *some* cars (and Jeeps), but I've never been able to make my mind up on how white letter tires look on GN's or "T's". On one hand, the white letters are a "hat's off" to Buick's NASCAR heritage. On the other hand, they contradict the clean, subtle, stealthy, "Darth-Vader", etc. - etc. appearance. So....what's your opinion?

:D :D :D

Hmmm, gonna be many different views on this one. I never did like the look of white letter tires on a TR. Maybe a Monte SS, But not a clean black GN!! Maybe even some muscle cars.

i cant stand the way they look. it sticks out way to much and just doesnt flow with the car.

they looked good on my monte, i think they look good on 60 & 70's cars, what i hate about white letters is when the car is moveing it looks like you have plain old white wall tires, i think what i'm trying to say is they look good on show cars, as they're standing still..

Like 'em on my old trucks, with big beefy meaty tires, not my GN and not on anything under about a 55 profile big thick tire.

Though when I get my 72 finished I'm thinking big fatass white walls for it :D old school baby!

White letters weren't cool on this car in 87, 97, so why would they be in 07?!!
The only place white letters belong is early 80s v6 camaros, and 4 cyl fox stangs!.

Not saying if they were cool or not, but Goodyear tires with white outline letters were an extra cost option in 1987.

I got one 87 GN that I put some 15X8 cragars on it with white letters, it is old school but still looks good to me:tongue: In 1987 that was the baddest set up out there:biggrin:

I like the white letters on trucks and some cars. But not on GNs. They make the car look cheesy. :p

I like em but only with stock GN wheels and the tire size has to be either a 60 or 65 series.

Yeah, I have the trunk option for the white letters and I run them. I've always been partial to the early 70's musclecar look anyway.

Going to switch to a more original looking outlined white letters in the near future though, they aren't easy to find anymore.

Had them on the elky for a while, on a set of draglites, didn't think it looked too bad, But you couldn't pay me to get rid of the 17" TT2s:D . I think it all depends on sidewall height and what rims you're running.

yeah Nick, I forgot to mention that in my original post. correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the option was for the Goodyear Eagle GT's with ROWL (Raised Outline White Letter).

Didn't the Eagle GT II's come with ROWL's on one side? It seems like Michelin offered the same lettering on one of their tire series for a while also.

Back in about '93-'94 there was a guy that used to show up and the local cruise in a white '86 Monte SS that had black, 15x8 American Racing NASCAR look-alike wheels (D-holes or something like that??) and some prefectly sized white letter tires. The car was slightly lowered and really looked awsome cruising around. He just needed a window net and the exhaust dumped out the side.

I dig the old school look my blue/chrome car.... but not on my black car.

Like the chrome trimmed Turbo Regals with white letters either in outline or solid. Adds a little class to an already classy package. The blue TR just up above is a perfect example- beautiful car BTW! GN's look better with blackwall tires in my opinion. Older musclecars need white lettered tires.

I kinda like the look for a change. The first 18 years I've owned my GN, it was always blackwall out. I can't see my tires when I'm driving so I don't care what they look like rolling! It's just tires anyways but it winds up being a personal preference in the end. If it really bothered someone enough they could always pony up and remount the tires!
