What 1/4 times are we looking at with a stock unopened block, stock heads?

A cam is ok.

Anyone?

.

I have Dusty's old car. He went 10.40s on a motor with a stock rebuild from what I understand.

John Pekar is going pretty fast on a built 109.

I think there is a TSM driver that broke over into the 9's with a stock longblock.

Stangbanger 10.6X with unopened motor.

I am not sure Dusty's car was "bone" stock. If it was opened, then does not count IMO.

Let's talk boost numbers with these claims? How much was it pushing? 35 or 40psi?

Stanbanger said on some posts he ran 35PSI at some points in the run.

I have Vic Guilmino's car here 11.15. That is also stock turbo & intercooler.
6,XXX miles.

I know I am nowhere close to being the fastest, but I went 11.18 on an unopened motor. Melted a piston after that....my fault:(

stock un-opened longblock and stock turbo/intercooler? That is a hard pill to swallow.....

Ed Brewer went 11.37 (7.17 in the 1/8) with a stock longblock....stock turbo... but the i/c was dutt necked... and he did about everything else you might could imagine without opening the engine up..... ported intake too.....

I guess I am having a hard time believing because I searched these boards for hours.... and the consensus was Eddie Brewer was "tha man" .....

I am not the fastest either. But I went 11.20 with a stock unopened motor. My buddy TurboTimmer went 11.18 with a stock unopened motor.

Turbo1dr,
Short answer is yes! 35 psi gauge was pegged on the 10.6 pass. Don't know what it was. At 33-34 psi, car runs 10.8s.

29PSI gave me a 11.17 on stock heads/cam/unopened longblock...

Never tried any more boost.

Go ahead and crank it up on some VP C-116. You won't hurt anything, if done right.

Don't take my word for it do a search under his name.I didn't find it on this site either before I purchased the car. If I get time tonight I'll look it up & post the link.

My definition of an unopened engine is an engine that the lower intake, heads, cam and stock rocker arms have not been modified in any way. No high ratio rockers or port matching the heads to the intake. Porting everything else is ok IMO.

Brian, Vic's car also used to have 5.38 gears in it. Don't know if it still does?
Mike

Tim Stockwell went high 10's several years ago on an unopened longblock. Search the gnttype archives for the discussion.

Brian... I am by no means saying "it ain't so"..... I am just saying I was very diligent in my search for the limits of the stock turbo.... and that was my findings.....

I hope I didn't come across as a smart @ss...... if I did.....just slap me

No you didn't come across as a smart ass I didn't believe it either.I actually pulled the oil pan & checked, stock bearings in excellent shape.Pulled valve covers stock. That is why I bought the car.Vic told me it was pulled down 3 times during contested wins.I did a search last night & found a 11.19 time but I know there is a 11.15.Just have to find it.

Mike I never checked the gears but they didn't seem that steep.
