I'm in the process of building my 85 short block.will probably be assembling it monday.I first need to drill and tap the front for my oil return.
It is 0.30 over, and i'll be using a precision 206/206.the rest will be from my 87 intercooled set up.
although I may be bolting on a 70 series turbo along with some bigger injectors by summer.
My question is,has this been done before?are guys going fast as reliably as if they were using the 109 block?or am I nuts for attempting this?
any eed back would be great.

10.60's @ 128 with a 84 block. The 84/85 turbo blocks are just as strong as the 86/87 blocks. If you use head studs, be sure order them for the 84/85 block because of the difference in lenght. Also, if you have not decked the block to 86/87 specs, then be sure to use the 84/85 headgaskets.

thanks for the advice Big Daddy.would u happen to have a felpro part # for the 84/85 head gasket?
that is a very impressive et,and mph,what size inj r u using?

I did that with 55#'s.........I now use 72's. I don't use felpro, I use the GM headgaskets.
