At the track this Sat. nite, and on the third run car starting cutting out in mid to upper track, I had a hunch what it was, my TPS, the same thing happened in Vegas last year and about 6 months before that, you get on the car and the voltage drops out, I had a spare and put in and now all is fine, why am I going thru all these sensors???. thanks

Have you tried putting back the old one to see if it still fails? Maybe you have a connector/wiring issue that gets "fixed" just by replacing the sensor.

I'd put an ohm meter to it (with it uninstalled or unplugged!) to get an idea of what is wrong. Compare to a good one. Resistance between 2 of the 3 pins should be constant and the 3rd to one of the other 2 should vary thru the range of motion.

I suppose the ecm could be the culprit. Maybe environment (heat/moisture) if they are not sealed very well.

A nervous foot over lots of miles or maybe some kind of bad mounting that adds unusual mechanical stress/pressure might wear them out or kill the seal

All are SWAGs. No first hand experience.

I wouldn't say that a lots of miles would necessary do one in. My daily driver has over 300,000 on the original TPS. No saying everone will that life out of one, just I have.
