Needle on vdo boost gauge shakes rapidly back and forth @ WOT/high boost. First noticed it when I tuned in 25~psi the other night at the track. Backed it off a bit and it still does it with about 22~psi. Ive swapped WGs and still the same. 25~psi run was last of the night and didnt go smoothly. Vac line blew off FPR. O2s stayed up, backfired out of exhaust (thankyou alky). 10 or 13 [cant remember] deg of kr on SM and only slight beep from Casper's audible sensor. I backed off immediately and cruised down the strip. All seems to be okay except for this deal with the boost. If not the WG actuator, then maybe the WG solenoid?? Could it have been damaged when the pressure built up enough to blow off that vac line?
Also found that the top bolt hole on the compressor housing for holding the WG bracket was stripped. Thought that was the culprit, but I secured it with a different bolt and washers and the issue still remains. Feel some sort of surge or bog when this problem occurs, so its affecting performance not just the gauge. Been thinking that my NGKUR5s @ .032 may need even tighter gapping at that high of boost (and/or need changing) and could be causing that, but they wouldnt have anything to do with the hula dancing guage, right? Looking for ideas, thanks.

I had the same problems with the VDO gauges, sent the first one back and the replacement jumped around everywhere also.Got me an Autometer and changed nothing else and all is well.
