i am getting a chip made, and i was asked if i want WOT TCC lockup, or not.
is this good or bad, i thought i read , that is hard on the trans ?
any input?
thanks

Depends.. on TQ and how you drive the car. If you have a 10 second car with a 12 inch converter, I would probably not get it. If its a 13 second car.. why not.

Is it hard on the trans, yes.. so is racing ;)

From what I've heard it's worth 2 10ths and 2 mph in the 1/4. I'm sure it's harder on it because your going to be locking the convertor at 85+ mph but your only going to be doing it at the track (assuming your talking about a race chip). Guess it depends on how many times a year you go to the track. A lot of guys I know do it with the chip or a manual switch and I've never heard of any problems.HTH

I only said it as a problem due to the following reason, see like on my car I lock mine at the line.. so when it hits second.. its locked. Tho if I have the chip lock it at 85 MPH, it then slips for a couple seconds locking up. This is due to the style of clutch used in my POS 12 inch converter.

If you have a PI multi disc converter, then its like a totally new gear when it locks.

Mine just slips hard under WOT if I try and lock it. Once locked it holds well. Slip the clutch, ya burn it up.

My .02

i wouldn't get it burned into the chip. insted i would just run a switch for it.

I have a really simple way i did this.i took a little switch and put it under the dash attached one side to ground, and the other i ran down to the diagnostic port. i then took one of the Y connector things, cut off one side and pluged it into the top left plug. It doesnt' look all that good, but if i decide i don't want it locking up for some reason, i let someone drive the car (which never happens anyways) i just unplug the wire and slip it into my ash tray. (bench seat car, its under my radio)

super simple and works great.

and i droped 3 /10ths in the 1/4 and added 2 mph.
