Motor is back together after head gasket replacement and it runs nice except for low oil pressure. When warm it runs 10lbs at idle.Bring up the rpm and the pressure runs right up to 30lbs with about 2k rpm. Supposed to have less then 5k on rebuilt motor. Would it be wise to put in new rods and main bearings for safety ? I do have the facilities to put car on a hoist to change the bearings. I plan on doing some racing with the car Thanks

Unless it has 5-20 oil in it, I would change them and I would check the oil pump for proper clearances.

Was your oil pressure low before the headgasket let go? As Steve suggested I would check your oil pump cover to gear clearance prior to pulling the engine....

Yup, Clevite 960P series mains and 1398H series rod bearings. Take one of each out and check sizes before you order em.

Hoist time.

And be sure to at least plastiguage things so you know if there is a problem before you reassemble it.
And check the oil pump.

And cross your fingers that bearings cure it.
