Ok people...I am not a master tech or weekend warrior. I am just someone who loves his GN and doesnt trust alot of people near it. And since I am a computer network admin, you can guess my knowledge base on engines. Please dont laugh at the following, instead how about some help?

1st issue. The other day I took the K&N 9" cone filter out of the cold air kit. It needs to be replaced. So I ordered one from Kirban and its on its way. However, when I put it back, I turned the engine over and it started fine, but the A/C blows no cold air. Did I knock something lose? I see that there are 2 connectors dangling in the wind, but I cannot say for sure they werent already like that. I dont want to bring it to the shop, cause last time I did that I had to get a new water pump. Now I can supply pictures if need be.

2nd issue. Where in the hell is the O2 Sensor located? I have heard its on the exhaust and there are some people who say its under the coolant tank. I have looked for this thing for hours and find no sensor with a single black wire coming out of it. All the wires on my car have at least 2 wires and some are terminated to these 4 wire plugs all over the place. If I had to rewire this whole car it would take me 10 years! There is S*it everywhere, and I cannot make any sense of it at all. The Service manual reads like stereo instructions and the local auto parts guy is as dumb as a stump. My shop wont look at it without a diag charge.

I can supply any other info If I wasnt too clear on anything. Just ask.

Thanks!

you could have knocked one of the plugs off of the ac compressor. there is 1 2 wire plug that goes there off the top of my head. as far as the o2 sensor, thats located on the exhaust right around the turbo area under the hood.:D

Are you aware that the K&N can be washed/cleaned, reoiled and reuse?

Look closely where the 2 connectors dangling in the wind and see if you can find their mating connectors.

The 02 sensor is located immediately under the turbocharger and screws into the exhaust pipe, has (if stock) only 1 wire-look again its pretty much in plain sight.

Good luck,

What he said =). Make sure it's a Denso or AC Delco o2 you're using, those Bosch sensors are crap.

Issue 2: Open hood. Stand on passenger side facing the drivers side of car. Look down at the turbo charger. You will see where the passenger side exhaust comes up to the turbo charger. This is where the O2 sensor is. It faces towards front of the engine at a 45 degree angle from the center line of the car. It usually will have only one wire unless upgraded to a heated O2.

Issue 1: Look at all the connections on the passenger side of the car you will see the dryer. This unit looks like a drum with 2 lines and what looks like a tire fill. There is a switch with 2 wires. Make sure this is connected. If it is unplug this and jump with a peice of wire. See if the compressor starts. If so then you may need to have your AC system looked at for leaks or low freon.

The 02 sensor is on the top of the downpipe near the connection with the turbo, on the engine side of the pipe.

If one of the connectors is on the driver side that is a flat-double (end to end) female connector that is at least one of your a/c problems. The male terminals of the connector is hard to see as it is located BEHIND the a/c PULLEY-between the pulley and compressor at about the 5 o'clock position as viewed from the front of the car, however, you can see it standing only on the driver side of the car...you have to look very closely to see it.

Good Luck,

Ok...

Took all your advice, and still nothing.

I am gonna take some quick photo's from different angles and post them. Then you can tell me what I am looking for.

This is starting to get on my last nerve! Computers arent this difficult...guess thats why I am not a mechanic huh?

02 sensor.
If it's still AC, find a purple wire that comes from in front of the intake and goes over to the passenger side. The thing on the other end is the 02 sensor.

If its a AC o2 sensor, it should be one purple wire. The sensor is located in the drivers side header, towards the front. You'll have to lean over the motor pretty good, but you should be able to get to it. A 7/8 inch wrench should get it out of there. If its shot get a Denso o2. They are resistant to lead, if you plan to race in the future.

I dont know the first thing about A/C, so I cant help. Mine doesnt work either, though.

Densos are availible here:

www.sparkplugs.com

At $18 plus shipping, its not that bad at all. Cheaper than a stocker too; around here that is.

Hi Len!

I would drop by with it, but you already emailed me and said you wont be back in town til after June 1st.

I'll give you a call when you are back and find out when you have time.....

Thanks!

Hey man, I think there are 3 AC related wires'; 2prong that goes into front area of compressoris clutch, 1 wire to rear of comp is hi pressure cut-out (i think) and the 2 prong weatherpack style on a swithc plumbed onto an ac line (near the #1 spark plug area) .
This can be tricky bcause If you dont see compressor cycling on , it could be elctrical OR gas charge is low and not allowing compress to turn on. If latter is the csase, it can be tricked into turning on by shorting 2 contacts at the accumulater on the pass side -big silver can that has a switch on it. If it turns on, then gas is low. Or that swithc is bad.

My fault, I meant to say you can see it looking towards the drivers side. You are correct, as it is; in fact in the passengers side header.

My appologies.
