Ugh...this is time consuming...Turbo T

Just got this in today.....a freshly re-chromed front bumper. Man does it SHINE! I bought a rechromed rear earlier in the year from e-bay for $162....couldn't go wrong at that price.

WORD OF ADVICE: Chrome cladded cars are more expensive to restore due to the bright trim work. On black cars everything can just be painted...well.... black.

2 and a half stock intercoolers (had them laying around so I put it on)

Could we get a little more configuration detail on this tidbit?? How do 2-1/2 intercoolers fit in there? Maybe a pic even? Thanks!

BTW, The T is looking incredible!

Awesome.... having seen your website and projects over the years, I am aware that you are one innovative guy... I'm gonna have to let my engineering mind ponder over the flow dynamics of that deal, but if nothing else, the sheer innovativeness is a joy to behold!! Nice!

It must do pretty good. That intercooler above went 107mph in the 8th mile with stock ported heads and intake. It also had a TE-70 P trim and a 214-210 roller cam. Boost was at 27-29psi.

Thanks again guys!

I've got the engine running and drove the car about 3 miles without a front bumper or hood. I'm still cleaning and fabricating. Oh, I've installed the 2.5 stock intercoolers...I'll have to post pictures before I install the grill and bumper.

Here is the latest pictures.

Chrome strips installed between the ribs on the valve cover. I haven't seen anyone do that before.

The front end is sitting high and all I have to install is the front bumper and related hardware and the hood. I may have to drop the front end somehow.

On the Dec 29 2008 I bought/brought the car home from the original lady owner. One year of ownership and I've only driven it a little over 700 miles.

Small update about the intercoolers.

Here are the 2.5 stock intercoolers mounted.

Here is a stock intercooler being used as a front mount. They will be plumbed parellel to each other for some much cooler air. It doesn't look like much but it's been proven to go 107mph in the 8th mile...so that's flying with just stock intercoolers!

Here I made a sheet metal radiator shroud to box in the front of the radiator. Once I've got the piping for the front mount installed I'll make a bottom for the shroud.

First picture is a white paper template before I actually cut the sheet metal out.

I'll be buying 4 new "white letter" tires this first week of the new year. The car was actually optioned with "white letters" from the factory. I'll finally be putting the stock rims back on.

Great job with this car ;)

Can you give some more on that front cover your running. I have never seen one like that before, any benefits to it oiling wise?

Are you willing to divulge the source of the stainless strips used on the valve covers & plenum? They look nice.

There's a link in my sig about the timing cover/oil pump.

The finish isn't polished...which should be called a #8 finish. #8 is just like chrome. When I bought the strips I ordered some that were too thin and when they cut it it twisted. I had to untwist it and then polish it...which is a pain in the a**. I would up using some plastic mirrored stick-on stuff from a friend that works at Hatteras Yachts...which is just 1 mile from where I live.

Its looking great man! I really like the color of it, the pin stripe and the door edge guard :)

How much did it cost to restore it and would you ever do it again?
