Help with what turbo I need.

Not enough and not anywhere near as many as there would be if there was easily obtainable E85 in the northeast. If your car can run on E85 and you have $7k or more in mods you better be running 10's or there is a serious tuning issue. Who went 10's on a stocker?

Sorry bout that. I ment to put stock long blocks. I'm posting with my mobile. I know Ed brewer used a stock turbo and went 11.30's E 85 is all over Chicago but I'm skeptical . I trust 93 alky and a nice size turbo .

I think you made an excellent choice and I am envious over the ported shroud; not available when I got mine Be prepared to port the heck out of the wastegate hole.

You'll probably get to the track sooner than I do but I look forward to seeing how your car performs.

Well I went to the track friday night.

Ran a 7.35 at 97 mph with a crappy 1.79 60 ft ( Could have been a 7.15 or so with a good 60 ft ) at 18.5 lbs of boost. Track was really bad that night as we had several blow ups on it.

Did not lock the convertor either. The convertor is a mystery convertor to me as it was in a car that I bought. Its a 9/11 lockup with a 3000 stall or so.

Let me know what you think.

Here is a powerlogger file. PLX wideband setting with a 3 bar map

Nice run!! When you crank it up and get that 60ft you're talking about you will be flyen. 10.80-90's I thinkl.

I see you are using a THDP. Did you port the wastegate hole to maintain the boost?

Thanks,

Steve

10's with a stock long block wouldnt be a big deal either as long as the owner isnt afraid of turning it up over 25psi to get it done. There is no doubt in my mind that the worst ethanol blends are still much better than 93 octane or even 93/alky as long as the fuel system is up to par.

I had to port the wastegate whole a lot. Still need to port it some more but its getting there. Does have some boost creep and you can see that in the powerlogger file.

Congrats! How does it feel driving it on the street?

I think it feels good. It doesn't spool up super fast however its not super slow either. Its a handful anyways as traction becomes an issue really fast. Im happy with it. :D

Couple of things stick out to me.

1) Shifted to 3rd gear at 56 MPH.

2) Highest RPM was 5585 and stayed vitually flat form 29 to 99 MPH.

3) Tranny slippage was 37% when you crossed the line. My PL is set up for 28" tires so that would not be valid if you run 26".

4) IAT looks high. Mine stays lower than that driving in stop and go traffic when it's 100+ in OKlahoma.

Have 26 inch tall tires.

Is this Mike's old t-type with chrome bumpers which you picked up from B.C. Canada? The converter is from TCS in Langley B.C. (not to be confused with the USA TCS) I was sure it had a billet 9" not a 9x11 from these guys which is a tough converter. Double check the size on it, the 9" unit is tough as nails and you should not hesitate to lock it up if your transmission is built. The 9x11 is also nice and can also be locked up with no issues but the clutch will wear out quickly if locked/raced every weekend.

Dang 18.5#, nice job!!!!

Pull a little fuel and shift the 2-3 at 5500-5700, I bet you pick up another 2 mph in the 1/8.

I've gone 95.x in the 1/8 with a TE60 at 18#.

Just thought I would post an update.

Went to the track again. This time with my new ptc 9 1/2 nl converter.( Thanks dusty! )

Pulled some fuel out. Set the AF to 11.2

Upped the boost to 19.5/20ish shifted 2-3 at around 5500

went 7.05 at 99.98 mph with a 1.68 60ft.

Was really wanting a 6.XX something. Oh well its there just need to get the 60ft down and do some more tweaking.

Everyone that puts a PTC 9.5 in love em. What converter did you have before and how much did you pick up with the PTC?

Interesting to see what it does if you left everything along and opened the dump.

That is very good eighth mph for the boost and timing you are running. Definitely a lot more in it with traction and more aggressive tune
