Lets Plan My DD!

Good/Fast/Cheap

Pick any two.

If you want it good....... and fast....... it ain't gonna be cheap.

well that is a simple set up that is cheap and reliable.. fast ?? only mid/low 11s in street trim. I am getting a new low mile GN shortly an this is what I am goin to do.

Have him do to yours, what he did to mine. Its been a few weeks since Ive been there, but going back in a week or two to pick up my buddies tta that brian is taking from quick to holly hell. Is it still at his place. I love the half vinyl top cars. Even more sleeper then my bench seat t.

I'll have a 49 and a set of 42.5's for sale as soon as I get my car back from Vince Janis. I have a TT chip for this combo , but you will need at least a Duttneck IC and ALKY. Chip is set for 23-25lbs of boost and I cant remember the timing. I drive this combo for 2 summers almost daily and it was alot of fun. With my L/U conv I still got great MPG. I drove this combo from my house which is 90 miles north of Pittsburgh to BPG in Columbus 2 times and raced all over town in the evenings...never an issue. It will all be for sale within 2-3 weeks. Ran at track twice with tranny issues, which is why its at Janis' now, but it went 12.6 @109 pretty easy. This set-up would look pretty stock also.

Shane, what you need to do is bring to me and will give it a awesome paint job..

ps going to post your Repley,I'll wait to you move to NC!!:biggrin:

Get the suspension parts from Scott W and I think you will even happier with it. Upgrade the front brakes to the Blazer set up and save some cash there as well. Better brakes are always a good idea bud.

First thing would be making the front seat frame beefed up. You know the seat is pillow top but the springs under them are week. Make that long ride to and from relaxing as the easy chair at home!:)
The second would be shocks with a set bilstein for the ride

Don't worry! Got a box full of them:biggrin:

You know you could take on of those put it in the front seat of your car and drive down to sc and hook it up in my car and show me the finer points of tuning with it :p just a thought

I've thought about getting a t type to drive to work ets. My thoughts were RELIABLE and QUICK. Something that starts everytime, doesn't overhear, and can make most cars looks silly from 0-70mph. And pump gas of course. For the most part, that's what I had with my GN and I guess that's what I miss most. Same for past cars. When they were real street cars, they were the most fun. Once you take it too far...well you know the rest.

If you want to get the HR bar, dont get the Metco arms. I made a set of custom LCA to go with that bar. They have no sway bar mounting holes. They are just big, shiny, I-beams, made of aluminum. I made them for a friend, but he hasn't got the bar yet. I would make him a set when they are ready. Might as well have some nice custom pieces to call your own.;)

Got several paint jobs owed to me. I will wait to you come to NC though, it is too cold up there for me:biggrin: Your work looks awesome, I got the concept car going to be ready one day, you can have at it:biggrin:

First thing would be making the front seat frame beefed up. You know the seat is pillow top but the springs under them are week.

Any suggestions on that, I am a large fellow too;):D

That would have to be JayC or Bob:biggrin: You don't want me tuning anything other than a stereo:eek::biggrin:

All the other posts, you guys are right on track with what I was thinking! I have seen some great pointers! I am going to pick up the car soon, work has been booming so I haven't had the chance... I am trading him an 86 WH1! He loves them and I love the white ones so:biggrin:

Keep it coming!

x3 Thats what i am running and i had no problem running mid 11's this summer. Can't ask for much more out of an everyday driver.I dont think i was ever beat on a test and tune night and drove to the track.Just a very streetable setup.

I would add F-body radiator,980 valve springs, and dutt neck to the list.mine was stuck at 23lbs boost without it.

I'll throw my hat in the ring and say since it's going to be a daily driver grab a thumbwheel chip from caspers that way you can adjust the tuning so if you want some more power it's there plus it's got the antitheft feature to kill the engine which is important when leaving it parked just hide the switch in a place only you know. Get a column lock or column guard cause even though the antitheft will keep it where you park it, it won't stop someone from busting the column. Since it has the landau top and is a sleeper get steel wheels for it (wider ones for the back) and put some wire wheel covers on it.

Then do the necessities (adj. fpr, hotwire, bigger pump, adj. wastegate, chip)

Since it's a driver make it a smooth ride with new springs, shocks, bushings, rear seat braces, jounce bars, grand prix bar, fender braces, bigger front and rear sway bar, new motor mounts with an engine tie-down.

Like Charlie said do the Blazer front brake upgrade since it's a direct bolt on. Get vacuum or hydroboost since you don't want the brakes crappin out on you on the highway.

Get a new stereo with siruis for the long drives, with some new speakers.

Then the rest is up to you with how powerful you want to make it.

Im sure yall will think im crazy but I dont think DR's would be great for a dd. (rain, temps under 60 that sort of thing)

My mods are only to make it run cooler, rush hour traffic has a way of having it run too hot. The cooler it runs, the better it runs. The larger intercooler alone helped keep the TR running in the "fun" mode in 10* warmer weather.

Have you ever used them ?? My wife an daughter can drive every day in the summer with drag radials. My little ol RX7 and Wagon also has them :p

Oh they are not good in the snow

Shane's last daily driver debuting in Gvegas NC

Lol I saw this thing about a month ago when we were leaving Hooters
I'll dig some pics up of that car when it was delivered from the paint shop in
07 Miguel. Poor car, it is like a Time capsule. It really didn't need paint when it went in.
