Pump destroyed and converter hub cracked....thinking slide failure

The double ones are probably painted like this?

At least one was painted I'll check tomorrow

Or did the slide crater and take the rotor?
Leaning towards this one because of the way a couple of the veins are positioned.

a slide that is more "robust" than a stock seven vane slide. Any pix to see the difference?
Have taken 2 built transmissions apart for comparison and both appear to have the same setup. I have not taken the original stock trans apart so no idea how thick the oem slide is.

what psi were you running at full tv?
Have it written down but I believe around 270

the converter with the cracked hub, was it checked out for concentricity before install?
It was a PTC 9.5 that I bought new.

Honestly after measuring the one "blueprinted" pump I paid top dollar for, I'll stick to freshening a good used one or getting them machined locally. It's a bit tedious no matter what route you go unless you really trust your vendor and even then I'd check it.

Also Steve, if you're going to do it, it would be interesting to see the spring pressures at 1.225 which is the approx height at the min. volume slide position.

I will do it no problem, later this week or early next week for sure. Tell me the combos and heights you want to see. I will document it and post it up. Sonnax spacers are on the way BTW.

Slide springs in the pump I'm considering using. Inner appears to be yellow and outer blue/green and yellow.

Noyoyo ring kit (700-pkh) is definitely cheap insurance. New spring data and combos would be nice as this is the only one I can find posted and I believe these numbers were calculated and not actually measured. And I don't have access to such fancy equipment lmao.

Based on that data the noyoyo spring is similar to the stock outer but I find that hard to believe (and of course they may have changed the spring in the last 12 years).

.106 on my single. Kinda stiff?

Jumping around a bit...hate posting from my phone. Starting to check donor pump and all of the surfaces look good, tempted to use it. Is .011 too much between the rotor and body?

Can get a .004 feeler in between vein and slide, .005 will not go.

Not sure your method of measurement there is accurate enough. Should be between .001 and .002 if it really is .011 thats ridiculously loose and won't work. Plastigauge is like $2 at any parts store I'd trust it over the pictured method.

As far as the vane clearance, check the backside of the pump vanes where they contact the rings and see if there's flats worn on the vanes. If there's pronounced wear there, replace the vanes. And use the rings from the noyoyo kit

If you have to use your current method remove the slide and remove the metal ring and o ring out of the slide and retest I bet it's holding your "straight edge" up off the pump body and throwing you off

Veins have slight shadow showing ring contact but definitely can't feel anything. Really have to get them in the right light to even see that.

I understand exactly what your describing and I'll try that. Not hopefull though because the straightedge appears to be dead flush with wormholes and slide

As far as heights it looks like 1.5 is full boogie and 1.225 is approx min (off a few thou wouldn't matter for comparison purposes).

I'd like to see:
stock dual springs
Stock dual springs with spacer
Transgo spring alone
Transgo spring with spacer
Transgo spring with stock inner

At both heights if possible. Suppose you could do transgo outer/stock inner AND spacer if you want to get wild and unruly lol.

No problem will do.
