I've got an '82 or '83 2bbl Buick Regal V6 and I'd like to know if an EFI intake from a later engine would bolt up to this one and work? I can use a spare MegaSquirt controller to run it if it will.
Thanks,
JB
The engine is an '82 Regal 3.8L V6 with the 2bbl carb and bone stock as far as I can tell. Does have the big HEI distributor. At idle it fires very erratically, misfiring in an irregular but steady pattern. No specific cylinder or cylinders can be identified as misfiring, and under throttle it...
What did the V6 filter mount look like before they changed it to metric? Maybe that one will work.
Guys. I appreciate the suggestions for add ons, really I do. But that's not what I'm after here. Simpler is better. Fewest parts is best. I want a stock mount that will clear the frame and...
Good thought, but it won't work. 3" diameter will hit the frame and they said those were 3-1/4" dia. That filter in the photo is only 2-1/2" diameter. It's for my compact tractor and really is nowhere near adequate, besides, the threads don't really match up right. I could use a common 3" filter...
So close. This photo is with the "Metric" filter mount. As you can see it's too close to the frame rail. Is there a filter mount that points more forwards or downwards? (remote is the very last resort) Thanks,
JB
I need just the cover and used is fine. No gears necessary but I would like the cover to be complete with relief valve, spring, etc if possible. If not I can use parts from other style covers that I have probably. Minor wear is not a big deal as I'm using a booster plate (TA).
The application...
Took a closer look at the TR. That engine is an '82 2bbl from a Regal. The angle of the filter looks to be an estimated 38 degrees from the fore/aft axis and I believe it will work well enough to allow a full size filter. Unless anyone can suggest anything better that's what I'm going with I...
I'm a little hesitant to say... you guys might not want to help me. But, what the heck, here goes.
It's a very modified 340 Buick in a very modified MGB. The frame rails widen just forward of the oil filter mount so the filter can angle out by maybe as much as 45 degrees if it angles down at...
How many different designs for this did the V6's use? I need something that points the filter down and forward more so than outward like the SBB (hits the frame rail) or straight down like the 215 (hits the steering rack). The one on the V6 in my wife's car looks like it might work, wasn't there...
Bruce, you obviously know about this tranny, would you care to take a crack at a non-mainstream application with a couple of very non-standard mods? To give you a hint, it's a sports car application, attempting to raise the bar on 5 speed manuals for driving on road courses. The market for this...
