I got this Delco CD radio, the ones similar to the 2002 Camaro. Wiring checks out, sound in all the speakers. I am looking for a way to install this clean in the Buick, but the bracket 'ears' on this model are giving me issues. Using the search feature, I found quite a few folks had this radio installed, but the pics in those threads are no longer viewable.

The first issue is that the top most hole is 'very close' to fitting the stock mounting hole. I get the feeling if I give enough upward force I could get things to align and get the bolt threaded. (Maybe)

The second issue is that if that if that does work, the ears are directly in the way of the clips that hold the Climate control trim. I found a thread in the forum where a member just 'broke off' the clips that were in the way, and the remaining clips held it in place. I'd like to not do that if i can. Knowing my luck it will come back to bite me ,or I would snap the entire rim in half or something.

I started to take apart the radio to see if those ears were removable. I got to the point where I would have to start detaching circuit boards and to that point, they look like they were part of the frame of the radio. Unless I had a frame to swap it with I would be out of luck. I could cut the ears off, but with a heat sink on the side of this radio, I don't know how I would secure it to my dash. Or what with for that matter.

Anyone who installed this radio have any picks of how they installed it? If not does anyone who installs radios have any tips in general on how I can put this in cleanly?

I appreciate your help!

You probably already have this figured out by now but I figured I would chime in....

Unfortunately I do not have any pics of my install but if I remember correctly I trimmed the edges of the brackets to just fit in the opening and I also think I drilled a new hole into the dash frame work so I could utilize the holes in the radio bracket to hold it in. It was definitely not the way I wanted to do it but also didn't want to make a project out of it either. I wasn't concerned about the radio or brackets as much I was about drilling a new hole in the dash metal.....don't even think it was more than an 1/8" hole but a non original hole non the less! I did not end up breaking anything and everything looks good but it was a pretty tight fit as best I can remember.
