How can you tell the difference between the stock input shaft and an aftermarket version????

Stock 87 t type. When I am sitting at a stop light with the brakes applied. Every once in a while the brake pedal pulses or vibrates. Is there something in the powermaster I can change before replacing the whole thing??? Thanks Charlie
