285mph buick v6 Trans Am

General production category rules. These rules apply to /PRO (production coupe and sedan) and /PS (production supercharged). Other production classes also.

'This category is intended to represent typical transportation vehicles, which may be purchased from ANY automobile dealer. A production rate of at least 500 vehicles of the same model and on dealer's inventory for sale to the general public is considered to meet the requirement of a production automobile.'

'The engine used must have been available in the model year of vehicle used as purchased from ANY automobile dealer.'

'A different displacement size of the same design engine may be used provided it does not constitute an "Engine Swap" as defined in Section 4.N.'

'Choices of camshafts, induction and ignition are unlimited.'

'Cylinder heads are limited to original number of valves and port configuration.'

Definitions. Section 4.N. Engine Swap:

'An engine swap is the replacement of the original engine with one of a design, which was not available as a factory option for the particular car in question. The main factors used in determining design differences are cylinder head bolt pattern, intake manifold bolt pattern, and bell housing bolt pattern.'

Seemed pretty clear to me at the time.

Looks like they grabbed the records for D,E/PS at El Mirage and Muroc also. Heck. Why not. Tech was really looking the other way on this one.

What do you think the chances are of those D,E/PS class records getting broken ever again. By someone that doesn't "cheat", that is.

Very low, unless they are broken by a Supra.

A stock block, legal head TTA should be good for 250 to 270. 299 would be tough.
