What helps prolong the life of the alky pump is to flush out the method when it is going to be sitting for am extended period of time. I do this every winter. I have 150 bucks into my alky setup. Method costs 3.34 where I live. A gallon lasts me all year since we have no track and rarely beat my car. For those of us that don't have to drive wot all the time pump gas and alky wins. We do have e85 and I have everything but injectors to switch over but to me it isn't worth it at the moment. If we had a track nearby I'd set it up to run both fuels and put it to the wood.

Bought my pump used and check pressure every spring. Still works perfect.
