Is there any real gain upgrading to champion steel ported heads. Anybody had anh real improvements as far as et
I'm guessing you have never seen a bare head. it's amazing a stock headed TB can run 11s looking at them. The difference is even more evident compared to today's head port designs.
Good timing with this question, and i dont mean to take over your thread but maybe your wondering what i am...
Do i spend the money on local machine work, parts and my own time for dragging them to and from the shop. OR buy some ready to go aftermarket heads and bolt on. I know it will cost more, but to me it might be worth the convenience and of course the extra hp.

If you are not able or ready to put in the many hours required to grind your own, you'd probably be better off buying a pair of Champion irons & bolting them on.
Champion does nice work but it takes 6 months, no joke, to get a set of heads and intake ported and polished. Yes the aluminum heads will cost more but you will do it right once and the heads will always help make power with whatever turbo, fuel, converter upgrades you do after that.
The gain is there if you can take advantage of the head with more cam, valve train, turbo,Octane and fuel volume. Is there any real gain upgrading to champion steel ported heads. Anybody had anh real improvements as far as et
IMOP The reason, alum. Heads can be fixed. I've had 4 iron boat anchors over the years and that gets oldTruth be told ... there are other porters that do even better work then champion for the same money and less wait ...
and for any reasonable street car .. I don't understand the push for a set of Alum heads .. half the money and the ported Irons get it done just as well
