I think it depends on how mechanically inclined you are and what tools you have available. It can be done in a day. I don't think it is 'that hard', but if someone has never seen under a hood before, then it's probably beyond their ability. The majority of the job is removing interference items (i.e. cam sensor, misc. wiring, etc.). If you have a garage and looking for something to do while the car is away for it's long winter nap, it's a great project...
