My cam sensor volts do not rise above 4.83 volts. When I first installed it the volts would go to 11.00 volts. The car ran fine untill I hade some exhaus work done. Now it will only backfire out the exhaust. I have replaced the ECM and the ICM. Need some help.

.

If I remember right the CS volts are usually around 7.5 or less if probing the middle wire unless the CS is in the window (volts will be close to 0) Usually all of the power wires under the hood are black with pink stripe and they carry the 12volts. Sounds like if you just did exhaust work then maybe you knocked a ground wire off somewhere. Usually when backfires occur the cam sensor is 180 out or bad MAF. Keep us informed.

Found the prob. The spark plugs were hollow. The electrodes had small pin size holes in them that ran all the way up the plugs. Replaced them and the car runs fine. The exhaust shop must not have had a good ground on the exhaust when welding. I have not seen this one before!!!
