I use the gate plate with the stock shifter on mine...
I did see a GN that had an aftermarket B&M pro ratchet shifter that fit through the stock shifter opening. It may have had the reverse lockout removed, but I cannot be sure. thinking about doing that on mine, but I like how quick the action is with the stock junk. I removed the column linkages on my car as well so the shifter is extremely light and easy to shift.
