i was reading an old issue of GMHTP and it said that the timing cover gaket set from Fel Pro uses a rope front main seal and that the neoprene should be used for better durability and sealing. when i looked at the seal in the set it looked smooth and had like 2 or 3 ridges on one side and from what my dad was telling me it didnt look like a rope seal. he said a rope seal looks like a rope. does anyone know if Fel Pro has changed the seal in their kit to a rubber or neoprene type or if it is actually a rope seal. also, how long does a rope seal usually last?

thanks :D

FelPro actually offers two different timing cover gasket sets...one with the stock rope seal and one with the neoprene front seal...Sounds like you just happened to have picked up the neoprene version...
