OK, so the fuel gauge in my 86 GN was only going to about 3/8 of a tank when it was full. I unplugged the sending unit and the gauge went to full. This lead me to believe that the sending unit was bad.
I just dropped the tank (after getting 100 octane in my friggin eyes!!!) and plugged the new sending unit in to test it. I moved the float to the full position and the gauge still only goes to 3/8???
Anybody have any ideas?

Check the Ohms coming from the sending unit

Sending unit repair

I ended up removing the gauge from the cluster and cleaning the posts with some steel wool to get mine reading right again.

What are the chances of both sending units not working, and getting the same reading?
Are you thinking not enough juice? If thats it how do you fix it?

I doubt your both sending units would be bad.
The ground might be flaky.
