GM vehicle inquiry system

I recently came across the GM vehicle inquiry system printout that I got several years back for my 98 Trans Am. Started to wonder why I never got one for my 87 GN, then I seemed to remember that the service dept guy told me that it wasn't in there due to the age/year of car. Anyone familiar with the GM VIS can tell me if I am remembering right? It would be a nice way to start to figure out what my GN was born with. If this isn't possible, my next step will probably be starting with GM media archives.

GM Media Archives will tell you everything you need to know. They pull the actual invoice Buick created to bill the dealer your car was sold to. It's well worth the $50 bucks.

The report they run at the dealer can only go back so many years. I've gotten 2-3 of them. For our cars though if you don't have any original paper work the GM Media Archives can give you the invoice with what options the car was ordered with and the original selling dealer.
