How to tell if stock turbo OK?

Hi,

Just revived an 87 T-Type after sitting for a few years. Compressor wheel looks ok (a few nicks in the blades) and no play in the shaft. Spins smoothly, however find oil in up-pipe and throttle body. Could that oil from turbo or from another source?
